Payment Processing Service
Stripe is the payment processing service for app transactions including Subscription Membership subscription dues and event registration. Your organization will need to establish a Stripe merchant account. Your merchant account becomes a connected account with the Commissioned LLC account in Stripe for the Commissioned app. This connection allows for automatic payouts to your financial institution.
Activating Merchant Account
Establish a Stripe merchant account from within the app whenever you enable Subscription Membership or setup an event group with tickets for admission. Each subscription membership subgroup or ticketed event group will have separate merchant accounts.
Helpful Tip: We recommend that whoever will handle the merchant account set up is someone who lives in the same country as the legal office of the organization as stated in the company/entity documents.
You must have the following required information to successfully activate the Stripe merchant account.
- Email linked to Stripe
- Cell phone number for verification
- Type of business (individual, company, nonprofit)
- Legal name
- EIN
- Registered business address
- Industry (you will be able to select from a list on the form)
- Website
- Business representative full name, email, phone, address, date of birth (DOB), social security number (SSN)
- Bank routing number
- Bank account number
- Business proof of identification
There are country specific documentation that will pass the Stripe review. Go to this Stripe help page for Acceptable Verification Documents and scroll to the section called Select a country to view requirements. Then, choose the country. There are two lists -- Identity Documents and Company/Entity Documents.
According to Stripe's online resource, the acceptable forms of business proof of identification (entity verification) for the United States are:

And, the acceptable forms of person identification for the United States are:

Prohibited and Restricted Businesses
Stripe adheres rigorously to their policy of businesses allowed to use its payment processing service. Read through Stripe's Prohibited and Restricted Businesses information to learn more. Upon review of your organization's Stripe merchant account and if your business is deemed inappropriate, you will be given notice of this decision via email. The notice will cite the reason and indicate the date that the account will be closed and no longer able to accept payments. You may appeal the account closure with Stripe.
Change the Merchant Account
If you do not complete the activation steps, you have the option of changing or resetting the merchant account.
1. From the Merchant screen, enable the "Reset Onboarding" toggle.
2. Update the email address.
3. Update the country.
4. Tap the Continue button. The app will redirect you to Stripe's account creation.
