How to Setup Group Subscription Membership

Subscription Membership establishes paid subscriptions for a group. You will set one price for members to pay monthly. This feature is integrated with Stripe, the processor of the transactions. The app does not store any credit card information. The payment processing is fully compliant with the Payment Card Industry (PCI) Data Security Standard.

 

Each group with paid memberships will establish a Stripe merchant account. If using the same email address, the Stripe merchant accounts will be connected in Stripe but operate separately in the app for every subscription membership group.  

 

New members will "Subscribe" to be admitted into the group. The required information are full name, email address, phone number, and  credit or debit card information. Upon subscribing, the first payment is processed. Thereafter, the fee is charged on or around the same day of every month using the same credit or debit card. Members can cancel or reactivate their subscription.    

 

PREREQUISITES

  • You must be a group admin.
  • The group setting is either: A) Privacy Setting = Private; or B) Private Setting = Private and Approval Required = On. If you have a private group and approval required is off/disabled, anyone can join the group by simply paying. If you want to vet new members, ensure that Approval Required is on/enabled. After approving join requests, then they will subscribe and pay the membership fee.
  • You must be an eligible representative of the organization or business with access to bank account information.
  • You must have the following required information to successfully set up the Stripe merchant account.
    - Email linked to Stripe
    - Cell phone number for verification
    - Type of business (individual, company, nonprofit)
    - Legal name
    - EIN
    - Registered business address
    - Industry
    - Website
    - Business representative full name, email, phone, DOB, address, SSN
    - Bank routing number
    - Bank account number
    - Business proof of identification

 

 Decide the membership fee you want to charge in advance. Currently, the app does not have the ability for you to change the price. We hope to have this functionality soon.

 

On the navigation bar, tap the Groups icon and go to the group. 
1. On the group header section, tap the 3-dots menu and choose Edit Subscription.

2. Tap the Subscriptions tab.
3. Tap the green plus button for New Subscription.
4. Type the Subscription Name.
5. Add a Description.
6. Add the Price. The currency is in US dollars.  
7. Tap the Add button.
8. Tap the Merchant tab.
9. Tap the Get Started button to add the merchant account.

10. Complete the Stripe merchant account setup.

Get familiar with your Stripe merchant account. 
1. On the group header section, tap the Subscriptions button.
2. Tap the Merchant tab.
3. Tap the View Stripe Dashboard button. 
4. Check the cell phone associated with this Stripe merchant account for the 6 digit verification code.
5. Type the 6 digit code to continue. This will redirect you to the Stripe dashboard. For more information, go to https://stripe.com/docs/account
